Membership on the Montana Law Review is limited to second and third year law students who are selected on the basis of their performance in an annual write-on competition.

Our upcoming Winter 2014 issue is full. The Montana Law Review is now accepting submissions for the Summer 2014 issue.

We welcome year-round submissions for publication consideration. Winter and Summer issues are published each year. Although we give preference to articles focusing on relevant issues within Montana, articles of national import are also published. Our issues generally include articles and essays, written by current practitioners, and comments and notes, written by students.

Guidelines for articles:

  • Article length: 15,000 – 30,000 words (30 to 60 law review pages) preferred.
  • Essay/Comment/Note length: 5,000 – 15,000 words (15 to 30 law review pages) preferred.
  • Microsoft Word required.
  • ALWD citation format required.
  • 1 space between sentences.

Hard Copy Submissions: Authors preferring to submit a hard copy of an article may do so by mailing it to:
